Eid-el-Fitri: Ambode to host Muslims in 20 centres

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Friday said his administration would host Muslims in 20 centres across the state for the Eid-el-Fitri celebration as part of its strategy to bring about bonding among the people and enhance community participation in governance. Speaking at the Lagos House where he received members of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs on a courtesy visit, Ambode said he had observed that people travel from far and near to celebrate with the First Family during festivities. Police deploy anti-bomb officers to mosques, banks ahead of Salah celebration

Ahead of the Monday and Tuesday Salah celebration, the Police in Imo have deployed the anti-bomb department and all heads of the tactical units of the command to mosques, banks and recreation centres in the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration in the state. The state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, in an interview on Friday, said that the measure was taken to ensure that troubleshooters do not take advantage of the celebration to cause mayhem in the state. “There is massive deployments of policemen into the field ahead of the Salah celebration. The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has stated that there would be no gubernatorial election in Anambra state and in the entire South East in 2019 if the Federal Government fails to hold referendum before the election. Kanu, speaking on Wednesday at his father’s palace in Afara Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State, faulted his exclusion from the ongoing stakeholders meeting in Aso Rock, saying he would not relent in his agitation for Biafra.
