APC hails Nigerians as nation turns 55

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has felicitated with all Nigerians on the occasion of the country's 55th independence anniversary, to be observed on Thursday, 1 October.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the anniversary provides an opportunity to remember all the nation's past heroes as well as the sacrifices they made to keep the nation united and strong, and for Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the ideals for which the heroes lived.

It said in order to ensure that the labour of those heroes past are not in vain, it was necessary for all Nigerians, in line with the wordings of the country's national anthem, to re-commit themselves to serving their fatherland with love, strength and faith.

"We have no doubt that today's generation of Nigerians have also made, and are indeed still making, great sacrifices for the peace, unity and stability of Nigeria. We appeal to all our compatriots to continue to put the nation first, and to downplay everything that divides us and embrace that which unites us," APC said.

The party said since democracy is one of the most precious gifts of the nation's post-independence era, it is imperative for all to continue to embrace this known best form of government and never to do anything that will undermine it.

"We wish all our compatriots a joyous and peaceful celebration," it said.

I pity President Buhari- Nasir El-Rufai says

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai says he pities President Buhari because the two times he's become president of Nigeria was when the country was going through rough economic periods. El-Rufai said this while speaking at the Sunday Service of the Latter Rain Assembly which he attended yesterday July 31st. “We have always known that there is massive corruption in Nigeria but the revelations of the past one year have shocked even the most pessimistic of critics. Nearly 70 per cent of Nigeria’s oil revenues disappeared without a trace. Of course, there must be consequences for that. When we sit down with President Buhari these days, I pity him. I pity him because he has always become President anytime Nigeria is in trouble. First, it was after the NPN (National Party of Nigeria) government had almost grounded the economy (in 1984) and now, after a massive looting of the nation’s treasury; and he has to lead the team to fix it”he said Attend Professional Blogging
