‘It Was A Hypocritical Letter’–Presidency Acknowledges Receipt Of Obasanjo’s ‘Missile’

The Presidency has confirmed the receipt of a ‘stinging’ and ‘acerbic’ letter from former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan. The letter; laced with fulminations, castigated the President for the way he was running the country, his polarizing politics and his deceptive carriage.

“The Presidency acknowledges that it has indeed received the said letter from Chief Obasanjo”, said Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati.
Visibly embarrassed that the letter was now in the public domain, Abati continued:
“Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Jonathan is unbecoming, self serving and highly provocative. We find it unbecoming that the letter has been leaked to the media in a deplorable effort to impugn the integrity of the President. While many patriotic, objective and well meaning Nigerians have already condemned the leaked letter as self serving, hypocritical and malicious, President Jonathan has directed that none of his aides or any Government official should join issues with Obasanjo over it”.
Obasanjo and Jonathan have endured a cold war since the former left his post as chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees. This letter will only serve to deepen the feud and animosity between the pair ahead of the crucial polls in 2015.
