Over $12bn moved out of Nigeria in 3 years – EFCC boss Lamorde

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, has stated that currency declaration by travelers out of Nigeria amounted to $12.058 billion in three years. He made the disclosure in Abuja at the opening ceremony at the opening ceremony of a five-day inter-agency training programme on, Cross Border Financial Investigation organized by the United States Department of Homeland Security. It was organised for officers of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF; Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS; Nigeria Customs Service, NCS; National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and the EFCC.. Lamorde said currency declaration in 2012 was $9.9 billion. Ban’s visit: The International Community Supports Buhari – UN

Ms Amina Mohammed, the Special Adviser of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on Post-2015 Development Planning, says the visit of the UN Scribe to Nigeria shows international approval of President Muhammadu Buhari. Mohammed told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Nigeria’s image at the international arena had improved greatly, following a violence-free election that ushered in Buhari. Ki-Moon to Governors: Let available resources reach vulnerable groups

The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, on Sunday urged states and local governments in Nigeria to ensure that available resources were targeted at the vulnerable. Ban, who made the call during his meeting with the Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja as he began his two-day visit to Nigeria, said his advice was informed by rising inequality in the world. He urged the Federal Government to key properly into the Sustainable Development Goals, a successor-programme to the Millennium Development Goals, as a basis for the country’s development. He said local governments had important roles to play in implementing the sustainable development goals. According to him, in a world of rising inequality, sub-national and local governments can help to ensure that limited available funds are targeted at the most vulnerable. Saying that vulnerable included people who were “often hard to reach”, Ban urged governments at all level to ensure availability of health services, educatio
